<p>Ronald Gardner, beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew and friend to many, took flight with the angels in the wee hours of the morning on January 31, 2024 after a brief bout with cancer. His sisters, Ruthie and Deb were by his side.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>Ron was born in Lubec, one of Ada’s babies, on May 31, 1953, to Martin and Beryl (Green) Gardner. Ronnie was number six of eight children. He was preceded by his parents and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, brother Frank in 1975, sister Carol Armstrong in 2018 and nephews, Robert Gardner in 1998 and Matthew Molinski in 2018. Ron is survived by brothers, John of Bridgton, ME, Philip and wife Marjorie of Machiasport, ME, Kenneth and wife Linda of Limington, ME, and sisters Ruth Saumur and husband Richard of Cathance Township, ME and Deborah Gardner and husband George Molinski of Whiting, ME. He leaves behind aunts Margaret Gardner of St. Francis WI, Dorothy Sweeney of Bangor, ME, Ruth Shaw of Yorkville, NY, and a special cousin Judy Green, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>Ron grew up in Halls Mills where he roamed the woods and lakes. He had many fond memories of his childhood there. He attended Whiting Village School, Washington Academy and was a proud graduate of Foxcroft Academy. He also received his Associates Degree from Greenfield Community College in Greenfield MA. He was a lifelong learner of world history and current events. He enjoyed studying his Bible and had great interest in all of the religions.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>Ron made friends wherever he went. Through the years, he did travel around the country on all sorts of work adventures but, the place he called home was Whiting. He worked jobs that involved the educational betterment of others, hospitality, the seasonal industries and as a handyman to his friends and neighbors. He always had a budding idea. Ron had a gentle spirit and a had good heart for his animal friends as well. There were many a wagging tail when ‘Gardner’ showed up. </p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>There will be a celebration of Ron’s life on May 4, 2024 at 1:00 pm, in the Union Meeting House or at the Whiting Village Cemetery, weather permitting with his brother Ken as the officiant. A gathering at the Whiting Community Building will immediately follow the service. In his memory, please consider donations to Food Pantries, Animal Shelters and Addiction Recovery Programs. Come with your memories and a story to share. </p>
