<p>Barbara (Mitnik) Davis, 83 of Ellington and wife of the late Robert Davis who died in 2001, passed away, Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2024, at home. She was born Aug. 20, 1940, to the late Andrew and Elizabeth (Florek) Mitnik. She was born in Bridgeport, CT but was raised in Stratford, CT. She taught at East Hartford High School for over 30 years. Prior to that she taught also in Cranston, R.I. and New London, CT. She also taught religious education at St. Luke’s Church in Ellington for a few selected individuals. Barbara was known for her kindness and sense of humor. She loved tea, white wine and reading. Her hobbies also included watching HGTV hoping to build her own home one day and loved to watch the Hallmark channel. She is survived by her son, Michael F. Davis and her sister, Suzanne Murphy. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and many cousins who she was a mentor to. She was known as an Aunt, Kresna, Great-Aunt and a Fairy Aunt Godmother. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family from 9 a.m.-11 a.m., Wed., March 6, 2024, at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St., Rockville. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. at St. Luke’s Church, 141 Maple St., Ellington. The burial will be held privately at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Borne, MA. The family would like to express a special thank you to Andrea Garvais and the hospice staff for the love and care they gave Barbara. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions will be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
