Robbie Gough Obituary

Robert “Robbie” Lee Gough, Jr., 71, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Wednesday evening, February 28, 2024 at his home in Harrisburg.

One of eight children of Robert Lee, Sr. and Janice Doub Gough, Robbie was born in Connersville on May 15, 1952 and graduated from Connersville High School with the class of 1970.

On April 20, 1973, Robbie married the former Diane Vest in Tennessee. Mrs. Gough survives.

He was employed for GTE for many years and after his retirement worked with his brother, Shane, at Gough’s Auto.

Robbie was an active member of St. Gabriel Church and in his leisure, he enjoyed spending time at his cabin, mowing his yard, and visiting with his family and friends. Robbie was one of those people who could light up a room with his smile. He had a kind heart and an outgoing nature that made him special and loved by everyone. He was always willing to give to others, even as he was dying. He never complained about his illness or asked for pity. He just wanted to make the most of his time and share his joy with the world. He was an inspiration to his family and many others, and will be remembered fondly by everyone. He was also the greatest grandpa to Trot and Lyla, who adored him and learned so much from him. He always had time for them and made them laugh with his stories and jokes. He left a legacy of love and generosity that will live on in their hearts forever.

Besides his wife of 50 years, Diane, survivors include a son, Michael (April) Gough of Harrisburg; son-in-law whom Robbie considered a son, Mikey Davidson of Connersville; two grandchildren, Trot and Lyla Davidson, both of Connersville; a sister-in-law, Terry Gough; five siblings, Kim Wilson, Kevin (Judy) Gough, Karen Leach, Todd (Donna) Gough, Shane (Lora) Gough; many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.

Robbie was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Jennifer Davidson; two stillborn grandbabies; two siblings, Mike Gough and Candy Owen; a brother-in-law, Brad Wilson; a nephew, Gabriel Leach; and two nieces, Lacey and Chelsea Leach.

Recitation of the Rosary will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend Dustin Boehm with concelebrant Reverend Frank Eckstein at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, the Gough family asks that you pay it forward as Robbie would do. A suggested memorial contribution would be to the Jennifer Davidson Scholarship at St. Gabriel School, but any good deed in Robbie’s name is appreciated. Online condolences may be made anytime at millermosterrobbins.com.
