<p>Leni Talo, age 47 passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on January 29, 2024. He was born on July 22, 1976, in Honolulu, HI and raised in Oahu, HI. Later finding his home in San Diego, CA, Leni graduated from Helix High School in La Mesa, CA. </p><p><br></p><p>After high school Leni enlisted in the military at the age of 19 in June of 1996, embarking on a journey that would shape his life.</p><p><br></p><p>Following basic training in Great Lakes, Chicago, Ill. He reported to Naval Air Technical Training in Millington, TN, where he completed AD “A” school and was designated as an Aviation Machinists Mate. </p><p><br></p><p>Upon graduation, he reported for his first duty station with the Screaming Eagles of Patrol Squadron One, Whidbey Island, WA. It was during this time that Leni fell in love with Whidbey Island and knew this was where he wanted to retire. </p><p><br></p><p>In 1999, Leni married Chisa Jones. Together, they navigated the joys and challenges of life, welcoming two beautiful girls, Malia and Mailee. Malia was born in 2002 while Leni was stationed in Point Mugu, CA and Mailee joined the family in 2006 during his time in Oak Harbor, WA.</p><p><br></p><p>An aircraft mechanic by trade, Leni showcased exceptional skill, professionalism, and passion for his career. He traveled to several different countries, all enriching his life experience and adding to the man he was, while achieving the rank of Senior Chief in the US Navy. Leni served his country with distinction for 23 years.</p><p><br></p><p>In 2016, he reconnected with his high school sweetheart Natalia Valderrama. Leni and Natalia began dating, forming a bond rooted in love, understanding, and shared dreams. In 2017 they were married, and their union brought the addition of Natalia’s son, Gabriel, adding to the completion of their family. </p><p><br></p><p>He was an avid sports fan, particularly enjoying football, baseball, and wrestling. His passion for sports extended to attending matches, and he cherished the excitement of live events.</p><p><br></p><p>Leni was a loving family man and dedicated friend; he possessed a vibrant personality; which left an impact on all who knew him. His playful spirit made everyone comfortable immediately. Leni was surrounded by a multitude of lifelong friends who adored his humor and charming nature.</p><p><br></p><p>Confidence and humility are two defining traits to describe Leni (He also was a wonderful cook)! Despite his accomplishments, Leni remained remarkably humble, always putting others before himself.</p><p><br></p><p>As a father he embodied the qualities of compassion, kindness, stability, and that of being all three of his kids’ overall Hero!</p><p><br></p><p>Leni is survived by his loving wife Natalia, his two beautiful daughters, Malia and Mailee, and his wonderful son, Gabriel. He is also survived by his mother, Bonnie, father, Loleni, his sister Adria (brother-in-law Joseph); his brother Nathan (sister-in-law Lindsay); his two nieces Kaila and Annie; seven nephews Dylan, Ryder, Cody, Eli, Logan, Luke, and Levi, as well as four cherished cats, Bella, Shiloh, Fefe and Mimi.</p><p><br></p><p>A few other people who made an impact on his life. His Auntie Bobbi, his mother-in-law, Cathie and father-in-law, Boogie. His bonus Mom, Helen along with Brandon, Ryan, and kids. Dave Jones was a father figure to Leni, alongside Lisa Johnson. Taylor and Jadin Jones have a special place in Leni’s heart.</p><p><br></p><p>Friends that are family include Toby and Irene, Jason and Kath, Brooks and Maria, Mike, and Patricia, Chontay, Stacey, and many more! </p><p><br></p><p>Pastor Michael Hurley his One Pastor and church family.</p><p><br></p><p>(Leni developed a lot of wonderful new friendships in the past 7 years here in Oak Harbor.
