Sylvia Jean Terry Obituary

Sylvia Jean Pullen Terry, age 84, of 1304 Woodlawn Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia entered into the Kingdom of Heaven on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at her residence.

Jean was born on June 16, 1939 in Eagle Rock, Virginia to the late John Henry and Myrtle Wilcher Pullen. She was a retired molder for Acadia Polymers in Iron Gate, and had also delivered the paper for The Roanoke Times for a number of years. Jean was an active member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Selma, where she served as a communion steward, a greeter, a past youth counselor of the MYF, and a past member of the church council. She loved cooking and enjoyed feeding everyone at Sunday dinner.

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Philip Kent Terry, and two sisters, Floretta Sue Pullen and Shirley Loiselle.

She is survived by two daughters, Tammy Terry Hinebaugh, and husband Tommy, of Clifton Forge and Leslie Terry Downer, and husband Rick, of Covington; two sisters, Carolyn Bush, and husband James, of Clifton Forge and Pat Bowen of Jetersville; five grandchildren, Meghan Kirby, and husband Andy, Dwayne Hinebaugh, and wife Jeri, Heather Hinebaugh, and fiancé Dr. Ryland Boehnke, Jacob Downer, and wife Madeline, and Jared Downer; six great grandchildren, Kenton Kirby, Konnor Kirby, Aiden Hinebaugh, Kellan Hinebaugh, Bennett Downer, and Riley Downer; and a number of nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Dawn Williams.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 4, 2024 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Mrs. Donna Nicely and Reverend Eunji Kim officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge. Pallbearers will be Andy Kirby, Dwayne Hinebaugh, Jacob Downer, Jared Downer, Aiden Hinebaugh, and Kenton Kirby. The family will receive friends on Monday afternoon from 1:00 PM until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
