<p>Thomas Calvin Scarborough, 93, of York, PA, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at his home in Normandie Ridge. Thomas was born in Street, MD, to his late parents, J. Amos and Margaret A. (Bay) Scarborough. His beloved spouse of 72 years, Ruth S. (Snyder) Scarborough, survives Thomas at home. </p><p><br></p><p>Thomas graduated from the former Delta High School in 1947 and attended college for two years. Thomas and Ruth lived in the Delta area before they retired to Normandie Ridge in York 20 years ago. He worked for 20 years in the fire department at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, retiring in 1986 as Chief of the Department. Thomas was a member of Slate Ridge Presbyterian Church since 1944. He served on the Session and was a Trustee. Before starting his career at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Thomas worked at Robinson Brothers in Delta. After his retirement, he worked for four years at M&amp;R Equipment. He was dedicated member of the Delta-Cardiff Volunteer Fire Company. He was also a very talented woodworker, known especially for the plaques and wooden Christmas ornaments he produced.</p><p><br></p><p>In addition to his spouse, Thomas is survived by his son, Douglas T. Scarborough and his wife, Linda, of Parkville, MD and his grandchildren, Bryan D., Kathleen R. and Sara E. Scarborough. </p><p><br></p><p>In addition to his parents, Thomas was predeceased by his sister, Helen L. Pomraning.</p><p><br></p><p>A Memorial Service honoring the life of Thomas is being planned for a future date.
