<p><p>Irvin Louis Scarlett, 93, Gardner, Kansas passed away Monday, February 26, 2024 at Sunrise of Overland Park, Kansas. Cremation with a service at a future date. Condolences may be left at <a href="http://www.brucefuneralhome.com" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">www.brucefuneralhome.com</a></p><p>Irvin was born July 19, 1930 in Denison, Kansas to Homer F. and Olive L. (Gilliland) Scarlett. He grew up in Valley Falls, Kansas and was a 1949 graduate of Valley Falls High School. Irvin married Meda C. Blundell on April 6, 1951 in Valley Falls, Kansas. Irvin was a United States Air Force Veteran, serving from 1950-1953. While in the military, he was a parachute technician.</p><p>After Irvin’s discharge, he owned three different petroleum service companies in Independence, Humboldt and Olathe, Kansas. He was additionally, the assistant manager of Gibson’s Discount Center in Olathe, Kansas. After moving back to Independence, Irvin became an instructor for the Verdigris Valley Vocational school and then retired in 1992 as a purchasing agent for the Montgomery County Highway Department.</p><p>He was involved in several community organizations, including VFW and Lion’s Club, Gardner, Kansas, Elk City Masonic Lodge and Flying Club, Independence, Kansas. Irvin was a member of the Olathe United Methodist Church, Olathe, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p><p>Irvin was preceded in death by his parents; son Daryl A. Scarlett and brothers: Richard, Warren and Donald Scarlett. He is survived by his wife Meda; Sons Dennis Scarlett, Leawood, Kansas and Carlton (Gale) Scarlett, Gardner, Kansas; five grandchildren; one step-grandchild; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and brother Dana (Joyce) Scarlett, Burlington, Kansas. &nbsp;</p><p>The Scarlett family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff of Ascend Health Hospice and Sunrise of Overland Park, Ks.</p><p>Arrangements: Bruce Funeral Home, 106 S.
