<p>Gerald H. Roth, 82, retired Deputy Fire Chief of the Lowell Fire Department and a longtime resident of Tyngsborough, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at Lowell General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Barbara A. (Decker) Roth with whom he shared 63 years of marriage.</p><p><br></p><p>He was born in Lowell on November 5, 1941, and was the son of the late Michael and Mary (Stagnone) Roth.</p><p><br></p><p>Jerry worked at the Courier-Citizen in Lowell until he started his beloved career as a Lowell Firefighter on Sept 20, 1970, where he proudly served for 30 years until his retirement on Jan 20, 2001, as Deputy Fire Chief. </p><p><br></p><p>He was known for his great sense of humor and his friendly, caring, and charitable nature. He was a past President and long-time member of the Dunstable-Tyngsboro Lions Club. He was also a founder of the Tyngsboro-Dunstable Youth Hockey Association.</p><p><br></p><p>Jerry had a passion for sports and was an avid fan of the N.E. Patriots, Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics, Boston Bruins and NASCAR Racing. Additionally, he enjoyed Breweriana, particularly Harvard Brewery in Lowell where his father Michael was employed for many years. </p><p><br></p><p>Most of all, Jerry loved his family. He will be remembered as a hardworking dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who always put family first. </p><p><br></p><p>In addition to his loving wife Barbara, Jerry leaves his children, Gerry and Sandy Roth of Nashua NH, and Joe and Kathy Roth of Dracut; his grandchildren, Taylor and Sean Barry of Nashua NH, Spencer and Kelsey Roth of Wakefield, Alexa Roth of Somerville, and Courtney and Joe Roth of Dracut; his great-grandchildren, Graham and Albie Barry; his siblings, Michael and Jan Roth of Hudson NH, Barbara and Fred Birchenough of Gulfport FL, Susan and Peter Birrow of Gulfport FL, Maryanne Hall of Litchfield NH, and Mark Roth of Nashua NH; along with many nieces and nephews.</p><p><br></p><p>Visiting hours will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024, from 3:00 – 6:00 pm at the Dracut Funeral Home, 2159 Lakeview Ave., Dracut. His funeral service and interment will be held privately. Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Dunstable-Tyngsboro Lions Club at PO Box 93, Tyngsboro, MA 01879 or via Venmo to @DunstableTyngsborough-LionsClu.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p>

Gerald H. Roth, 82, retired Deputy Fire Chief of the Lowell Fire Department and a longtime resident of Tyngsborough, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at Lowell General Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
