Geroge A. Thomey, age 85, of Morrilton, Arkansas died at St Vincent’s Hospital in Sherwood, Arkansas on Sunday, February 25, 2024, after suffering a stroke.

He was preceded in death by his parents the late George W. Thomey and Lucy Thomey (nee Hoyt); his brothers Harold, Charles, Raymond and Gerald, and sisters Geraldine Ward and Ema Sue Briley.

He was a lifelong resident of Morrilton. He was employed at Levi Strauss and at Arkansas Kraft Corporation, from which he retired in 2001. He was an avid fisherman, spending many happy hours on the Arkansas River, reducing the catfish population. He had a playful personality and loved to have fun and make people laugh. He had a beautiful singing voice which he used often to glorify God.

He is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-five years, Jean Thomey (nee Boren); a son Mark Thomey (Marguerite) of Blountsville, Alabama; a daughter Cynthia Womack of Fort Smith, Arkansas; two sisters, Clara Talley, and Marguerite Holzeman, both of Morrilton; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral arrangements will be handled by Lemley Funeral Home of Atkins, Arkansas. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Lemley’s chapel. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Lemley Chapel. Burial will take place at St Joe Cemetery in Atkins, Arkansas.

Pall bearers are Matthew Thomey, Justin Thomey, Ethan Womack, Earl Boren, Gerald Johnston, and Charlie Crowder. Honorary pall bearers are Carl Talley and Grover Brown.
