<p>Cranston — Alfreda (Grundy) McGhee, 98, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 22, 2024 in the Hope Health &amp; Palliative Care in Providence, RI with her daughter by her side. She was the wife of the late Rev. Hugh Allen McGhee II. </p><p>Born in Ellaville, Georgia, daughter of the late Albert and Hannah (Terry) Grundy. </p><p>Alfreda obtained her Masters Degree in Education from Temple University in PA and also obtained her Bachelors degree in Education from Cheney University. She worked in several&nbsp; School Districts including Fairhaven, MA., Philadelphia,&nbsp; and 44 years for the Woonsocket School System. </p><p>She was an active member of St. James Baptist Church and former First Lady of the Church. A member of the United Baptist Convention. Founding member of the Terry family reunion international. A member of Christian Campers, American Baptist Churches of RI. Church Women United, the YMCA of New Bedford, social worker, a member of the ministers spouses of RI. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the NAACP.&nbsp; </p><p>Alfreda was very active in several other organizations throughout her lifetime and will always be remembered for all her good deeds and hard work. She was the eldest of the Reuben, Terry, and Louisa Terry families. </p><p>She is survived by one daughter Cheryl McGhee of Cranston, RI., and daughter-in-law, Donna McGhee of PA. Three godsons, James Stevenson, Sam Winslow Jr., and James Young Jr. And a host of nieces and nephews. </p><p>She was preceded in death by her son, Hugh A. McGhee III and sister to the late Bernice, Ralph, Geoffrey, and Curtis.&nbsp; </p><p>Her Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at 12 noon in St. James Baptist Church 340 South Main St. Woonsocket, RI 02895. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited; visitation is from 11 AM -12 noon, one hour prior to the Service in St. James Baptist Church.&nbsp; </p>
