Obituary

Jaszmine Dei’Chaun Phillips was born to Kameka (Phillips) Johnson and Corey Chapman, November 30, 1993, in Muskegon, Michigan. She gained her wings and glorious body, February 25, 2024. She was the eldest of four children. She has always accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior, and worshipped at Angel Community Church, for her entire life.

Jaszmine attended Muskegon Public Schools, and graduated in 2011. With her entrepreneurial spirit, Jaszmine created a large clientele with her cosmetology skills: braiding, twisting, and dreading hair, also making wigs for people who lost their hair from chemotherapy. So for everyone needing a re-twist, we know how much you truly miss Jasz!

She didn’t stop there, she also showed her love and compassion for elderly and disabled people through in-home care with Westshore Medical Personnel and Comfort Keepers.

Her strength for compassion and love stretched beyond infinity with the birth of her first true love and beloved son, Jaxson Phillips. Jaxson is the embodiment of his mom; when you look at Jaxson, you see Jasz. She always knew that her true calling was to be a mother, and she blessed us with Jayce Phillips, three years later. There was nothing more she enjoyed than being a mother to her precious sons, whom she cherished more than anything.

Jaszmine loved her family and leaves to cherish her memory, her two sons, Jaxson and Jayce Phillips; her mother, Kameka (Duane) Johnson; her fathers, Cory Chapman and Lonnie Clark Sr.; her godmother, Lucynda Hamilton; her siblings, Ja’Niya Clark, Lonnie Clark Jr., Cory Chapman Jr., Camylle Chapman, Cayla Chapman, and

bonus siblings; her grandparents, Ida (Alvin) Jackson, Holsey James, and Charlie Elliott; and a great host of uncles, aunts, cousins, friends, and clients.

Jasz would not fail to mention the love from her special friends, Tamara Stewart and Judy Richardson (cousin), and aunt, Alexandra Jackson.

Jaszmine was preceded in death by her brother, Ja’Vontae Phillips; grandparents, Gloria James, and Willie Earl Phillips Sr.; maternal and paternal great-grandparents; her favorite uncle, Willie Earl Phillips Jr.; and aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
