William Sojka Obituary

THOMASTON: William J. Sojka, age 81 of Thomaston, beloved husband of the late Karen A. (Turgeon) Sojka entered peaceful rest on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at his home in Thomaston. Born in Derby on June 25, 1942, he was a son of the late Ignacy and Irma (Andrus) Sojka.


A longtime resident of Seymour, William worked at numerous machine shops in the greater Naugatuck Valley area and was a proud US Army veteran. William was a devout parishioner of Trinity Episcopal Church, where he was part of vestry and sang in the choir. He loved antiquing and was a fixture at area flea markets. William had a great sense of humor and loved spending time with his family and friends, especially golfing with his brother and fishing.


Survivors include his loving daughters, Leslie Olson and her husband Kenneth of FL, and Shelley Sojka of FL, as well as his longtime companion, Jane Loeffler of Thomaston. In addition to his wife and parents, William was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Sheryl Spoering, and his brother Robert Sojka, Sr.


A Memorial Service of Requiem Eucharist will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. DIRECTLY in Trinity Episcopal Church, 91 W. Church St. Seymour, CT 06483. Interment with full military honors will follow in Trinity Cemetery, Seymour. The Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 161 W. Church St., Seymour is entrusted with his arrangements.
