Ruth Marian Newhouse

HANS CREEK, WV - Ruth M. Newhouse, 84 of Hans Creek, WV died Sunday, February 25, 2024 at Peyton Hospice House in Lewisburg, WV. Born July 14, 1939 in Brook Park, OH she was the daughter of the late Earl George Depew and Lula Amber McClellan Depew. Ruth was formerly employed by the Monroe County Board of Education and Mountain Heart Daycare Provider. She was a member of Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church and a member of Hans Creek CEOS where she served as treasurer. She loved her children and grandchildren. Ruth enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, music, reading and sitting on her front porch looking down Hans Creek Valley.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Doug Newhouse and nine brothers and sisters. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Lawrence Newhouse; two sons, Lonnie Newhouse of Petersburg, VA and Dennis Newhouse and wife Stacy of Hans Creek, WV; two daughters, Tammy Hale and husband Richard of Waiteville, WV and Carrie Mann and husband Derek of Hans Creek, WV; one brother, Larry Depew and wife Judy of Cincinnati, OH; eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Lindside, WV with Pastor Jerry Martin officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8:00PM on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home in Peterstown, WV and at the church one hour prior to services on Thursday.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 4192 Pine Grove-Bunker Hill Road, Lindside, WV 24951, Peyton Hospice House, 1265 Maplewood Avenue, Lewisburg, WV 24901 or Hans Creek Community Center.
