Mildred Jane Sobczak "Millie" (Pfenninger)

Bay City, Michigan


     Mildred passed away Sunday, February 25, 2024, at Bay County Medical Care Facility, age 98. She was born March 28, 1925, in Mackinaw City, Michigan to the late George M. and Violet M. (Rivard) Pfenninger. Mildred married Aloysius F. Ryczek, Jr. on September 28, 1957, and he predeceased her on November 1, 1960. She would later marry Andrew S. Sobczak on July 4, 1962, he would also predecease Mildred on December 28, 1973. Mildred was employed with the former New Century Bank, Peoples Commercial Bank, and what is currently known as PNC Bank for over 39 years of dedicated service until her retirement in January of 1983. She was a lifelong member of All Saints Parish-St. Boniface Church and the League of Catholic Women and Men. She was a pillar of the parish and enjoyed preparing food for funeral luncheons, working at the luncheons, and cleaning and pressing the linens for the parish after Masses.

     Mildred is survived by her sister Margaret A. Polkinhorn, her brother Henry A. Pfenninger and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents George and Violet, her foster parents Stephen and Lucy (Laleman) Gremser, two sisters, Marion Krzywosinski and Hazel M. Bell, one brother George M. (Grace) Pfenninger, Jr. and one brother-in-law Donald Polkinhorn.    

     The Funeral Mass for Mildred will be celebrated Friday, March 1, 2024, at 11:00 AM at All Saints Parish-St. Boniface Church, 500 N. Lincoln Street, Bay City, MI 48708. Fr. Dale Orlik will celebrate Mass and private interment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery. Family and friends will gather at the church on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass.
