He always loved Auburn football - win or lose, and maintained a playful rivalry with his Alabama friends. He enjoyed people and seemed to make friends everywhere he went. He worked for the Highway Patrol Office as a State Trooper and was Justice of the Peace for a short period of time before beginning his life long career of 46 years at Georgia Pacific Paper Mill. He also retired from the Army Reserve as Master Sergeant in 1984. He helped create the Gallion Volunteer Fire Department and continued as an active member for many years. Bob most passionately served in roles within the church setting. He held various leadership positions at Gallion Baptist Church including Director of both Sunday School and Discipleship Training, just to name a few. However, one of his greatest honors was when he became a deacon at First Baptist Church of Demopolis. He learned to love the Lord from his sweet mother, whom he affectionately referred to as “Sugar”. Bob was a kind man with a sweet spirit. He always seemed to have a smile on his face, a hearty laugh, and a story to share with whomever he encountered. His strong faith was an inspiration to many, especially to his children.</p>
