Cameron Douglas Stuart Obituary

Cameron Douglas Stuart passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Huron

Shores Hospice in his 76th year, surrounded by loved ones. Survived by his wife, Barbara (nee

Pepper) and by his eldest son, Craig and daughter-in-law Gemma of Calgary; daughter, Vicky

and son-in-law Riley McGee and their children Matheson, Jack, and Rosalie of Sherwood Park,

AB; step-son, Michael Wood and daughter-in-law Nicole and their children Claire, Remy, and

Maggie of Kitchener; predeceased by his son Michael (2009). He was also outlived by his

“beloved” 1939 Chevy, 55 Ford Truck and other orphan projects in various states of repair.

Cam began his working career as a landscape architect for National Parks followed by private

practice. Most notably, he contributed to the creation of the campgrounds in Banff, Yoho, Jasper,

and Cape Breton Highlands National Park. In 1979, he joined the family business, Bonnie Stuart

Shoes and held various leadership positions, ultimately serving as president, a role he held for

more than 10 years. He ran the business with the utmost integrity until market conditions

changed, forcing him to close the business, the last and oldest children’s shoe manufacturing

company in Canada.

Cam had a great love for building hot rods (and lots of scars to prove it). He also enjoyed

golfing, playing bridge, CFL football, and watching the Saturday night pipe band parades. Cam

enjoyed time with friends and family telling stories that seemed to get better with age and

pontificating about political ideas. Cam was a unique person who will be missed. In Cam’s own

words, “Period. End of conversation”.

The Family of Cam Stuart will receive friends at Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, 757 Princes Street,

Kincardine on Wednesday February 28th, 2024 from 12:15 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Funeral service will be held

in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. Donations in memory of Cam can be made to Canadian Red Cross and

Huron Shore Hospice.
