Camille Wilmans Murray, 85, of Little Rock, Arkansas, formerly of Newport, Arkansas, passed from this life on February 24, 2024. Camille was born on December 11, 1938, in Conway, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Mary Rutledge Wilmans and Charles Wilmans of Newport, Arkansas.

Camille graduated from Newport High School in 1956 and attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.

After college, Camille moved to Dallas, Texas where she was married and had two children. Camille divorced and returned to Newport, Arkansas in 1974 and devoted her time to her children and their activities, and to the First United Methodist Church, where she served as youth director.

Camille was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Charles Wilmans; one sister, Anne Wilmans Fisher, and brother-in-law Jim Burton.

Camille is survived by her daughter, Cathy Murray Lewis (Fred) of Little Rock, Arkansas; her son, Charles Crawford Murray (Christy) of Fayetteville, Arkansas; her sister, Mary Wilmans Burton of Little Rock, Arkansas; her brother-in-law, Bill Fisher of Paragould, Arkansas; as well as several nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Camille, aka Lala, will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and boundless spirit. Camille had a love of fashion and cuisine and loved traveling with friends and family. Camille was a cheerleader to her family, friends, and a lover of life. She will be profoundly missed.

Visitation for Camille will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024, 2:00- 3:30 p.m. at Jackson’s Newport, Arkansas Funeral Home.

The family requests that donations to honor Camille’s legacy be made to the First United Methodist Church in Newport, AR, or The American Diabetes Association.
