Karen Lynn Hauber Obituary

Karen Lynn (née Weaver) Hauber, 66, of Broomall, passed away after a 17-year-long battle with renal cancer on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, surrounded by family. She was the loving wife of Charles E. Hauber.

Karen was born on November 3, 1957 at Lankenau Hospital, the eldest daughter of R. Homer and Miriam (née Johnson) Weaver. She graduated from Haverford High School in 1975, married Charles, her high school sweetheart, on December 18, 1976, and completed training as a registered nurse at Lankenau Hospital in 1978. Karen worked in the medical-surgical unit at LankenauHospital and the mother-baby and neonatal intensive care units at Bryn Mawr Hospital. She also volunteered as a camp nurse and a substitute school nurse over the years. In 1986, Karen and Charles purchased Flag Products, Inc., started in 1971 by Karen’s father, R. Homer Weaver, which they expanded to Flag & Sign Place on West Chester Pike in Broomall after running the business out of their home for several years.

Karen was a devoted Christian, having grown up at Grace Chapel, attended youth group at Llanerch Hills Chapel, and been an active member of Church of the Saviour for over forty years, where she formed many cherished friendships. Karen and Charles welcomed two children by birth and five by adoption. Karen highly valued education, homeschooling for several years and seeking out the best opportunities for each child. Karen enjoyed sewing, crafts, baking, and spending time with her six beloved grandchildren. Loved ones remember Karen’s kindness, compassion, strong faith, and determination. She was generous with her time and talents, always put others’ needs ahead of her own, and loved the Lord and her family.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Karen is survived by six children, Kristen J. (Timothy M.) Mitchell, Melissa B. Hauber-Özer (Mehmet O. Özer), Claudia G. Hauber, Ethan C. Hauber, Evan S. Hauber and Kristina H. Hauber; six grandchildren, Julius C. Edwards, Eliana R. Mitchell, Adalyn J. Mitchell, Benjamin M. Mitchell, Joshua E. Mitchell and Timothy G. Mitchell; and three siblings, Mark (Mariellen) Weaver, Eric Weaver (Catherine Heaman) and Lauren M. (Greg) Gamet.

Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Karen is predeceased by her daughter, Anna Faith "Anya" Hauber.

A graveside committal will be at 1:30 pm on Monday, February 26, 2024 in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, 1169 Limekiln Pike, Ambler, PA 19002. The funeral procession will form at 12:30 pm on Monday at Logan-Videon Funeral Home, 2001 Sproul Rd., Broomall, PA 19008.
