Timothy Lavik Obituary

Timothy H. Lavik was born on December 12, 1951 to Howard and Norma (Fahrnkopf) Lavik in Rugby, North Dakota. He died at the age of 72 years on Friday, February 23, 2024 at Trinity Hospital in Minot, North Dakota.


Tim was raised in Rugby, until his family moved to Minot in 1967. He graduated from Minot High School in 1970 and continued his education at the Brown Institute in Minneapolis where he studies radio broadcasting. After graduation from there, he worked as a disc jockey in Minot under the name Neil Wood. Later, he found his calling as a salesman. His work was in advertising and real estate. He started his own company called Diners Choice. This was a traveling venture selling ads for restaurant placemats. He retired in 2006 due to ill health.


Tim’s happy place was at Lake Metigoshe. The family had a cabin there when he was growing up and later, he had one of his own. Many weekends and vacations were spent there. Over the years, many family gatherings happened at the lake.


Tim is survived by his brother, Tom (Bonnie) Lavik of Blaine, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Joy Lavik of Minot; nephews, Jason (Brenda) Lavik of Blaine, Minnesota, Dan Lavik of Duluth, Minnesota and Andrew (Kristen) Lavik of Minot; niece, Gillian Lavik (Tore Knudsen) of Velva; former spouse, Val Woiwode Lavik of Minot; special friend, Stacy Morgel, caregiver for Tim and his mother, Norma for the past 8 years; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard and his parents.


Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 27 at Persilla Watts Cemetery in Rugby with lunch and fellowship to follow at Dakota Farms.
