Joan Ashby Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Joan Dangerfield Carter Ashby, announces her passing. Born on July 15, 1940, she spent her life as a home care worker, seamstress, and making beautiful quilts for her family and friends. Joan passed away at the Bowers Hospice House on February 22nd, 2024 at the age of 83. She leaves behind her husband of 34 years Lester Ashby, daughter Alice(Steve) Cooper, granddaughter Sara(Josh) Williams, grandson John(Katy) Cooper, step-daughter Karla Ashby, step-son Kevin Ashby, also eight great-grandchildren: Madison, Tayley, Ava, and Laci Williams; Maleiah and Kolsen Ashby; Landon and Raylee Cooper, sisters Barbara(Robert) Shiflett, Helen "Spanky" McKinney, and all her nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that she loved dearly. She is preceded in death by her parents Denver, and Margie Dangerfield, sister Marietta Hungate, and her late husband John Paul Carter. In honor of her wishes there will be no service. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Bowers Hospice House in Joan's loving and wonderful memory. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Melton Mortuary and Cremation Center who are honored to serve the family during this difficult time.
