McClellanville: Harrington Waddell “Sonny” Morrison Jr., 94, of Charleston and McClellanville, wife of Jacqueline J. Morrison, entered in to his rest on Thursday, May 10, 2018, at his residence. Mr. Morrison was born in McClellanville on July 16, 1923, a son of the late Harrington Waddell Morrison and Mary Howard Horry Morrison. Sonny was a Navy Veteran of World War II and was stationed aboard an LST and landed soldiers and material on Normandy Beach. After the war, he held many jobs but always returned to the sea. He designed and built two steel-hulled shrimp trawlers in the early seventies and handmade cast nets. He was recognized by the “National Fisherman” at Fish Expo in October of 1988, for developing a Soft TED device to exclude turtles when trawling the sea floor for shrimp. As a small boy, Sonny loved spending time with his grandmother and extended family in the small community of Grahanville near Ridgeland. Sonny is survived by his: wife; and together they have four children; fifteen grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Memorial Services will be Saturday, May12, 2018, in Saint James-Santee Episcopal Church Chapel of Ease, 205 Oak St., McClellanville at three o’clock pm.
