HALFMOON Ellen J. Wattsman, 78, passed away peacefully February 22, 2024 at Schuyler Ridge Healthcare surrounded by her loving family.


Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Rose Topolski and Edmund Chicoine and the step daughter of John Topolski and Laury Chicoine. She graduated from St. Peter’s Academy in Troy in 1959 and from Troy High School in 1963. She went on to work for NY Telephone Co. for 4 years and for Russell Sage College for 24 years until her retirement.


Ellen is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Robert M. Wattsman Sr.; by her beloved children, Dr. Terri-ann Wattsman (Christie Callahan) of Roanoke, VA, Christopher M. Wattsman of Islamorada, FL, Mari-ann Wattsman Seney (Christopher) of Matthews, NC and Robert M. Wattsman, Jr. of Cohoes; by her brothers, David Chicoine (Jane) of Boulder, CO and Steven Chicoine (Babette Ceccotti) of Hoboken, NJ; and by her former daughter-in-law, Danielle Wattsman. She is also survived by her 4 grandchildren who she adored, Mila Wattsman, Abigail Seney, Mazlyn and Gabriel Wattsman as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and step parents, she was predeceased by her mother-in-law, Pauline Wattsman.


Funeral services will be Monday at 9:30 a.m. from the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St., Waterford and at 10 a.m. in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Waterford. Interment will follow in the Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.


Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home Sunday from 3-6 p.m.


In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Mary’s School, 12 6th St., Waterford, NY 12188.
