Doris Reta Arnold Obituary

Reta “Doris” Arnold nee Wells

December 20, 1936 - February 19, 2024

Passed peacefully away at the age of 87, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, February 19th, 2024 at James Paton Memorial Hospital.

Doris was born on Gooseberry Island December 20, 1936. She is predeceased by her Husband Bramwell, Daughter Dianne, Son Tobie, infant son Merick, her parents William and Effie Wells, Brothers Douglas and Tobias and Sister Florence.

Family was everything to Doris and she loved them all very much. Leaving to mourn their beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother are her Sons Aubrey (Frances), Brian, Orven (Debbie), Melvin (Lisa) and Daughter Sharon Saunders (Junior). Along with 8 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren.

Doris was involved with the UCW in Traytown from the time the United Church first opened up there until the church closed. She was also a lifetime member of the 50+ Club in the area.

Doris was a strong, tough and witty woman. She may have been small in stature but had the biggest heart and nothing could keep her down even in the last few years as her health was declining. She loved attending card games and bingo and rarely missed going to either and anyone that knew her knew how much she enjoyed them both. We can't forget how much she enjoyed selling tickets and she would sell them for all the organizations she or members of her family were involved in. Doris could even manage to sell tickets to people who had no intentions on ever buying any.

The family would like to send thanks to the Dialysis Unit at James Paton Memorial Hospital who were so good to our mother over her last few years while she was receiving her treatments. To Delaney's Ambulance Services for their professionalism and care during the times that she needed their assistance. Also, to the Doctors and Nurses at James Paton Memorial Hospital for taking special care of our mother especially to the ones in palliative care that made her last days comfortable and pain free.

Lastly, we would like to thank all those who have called, text, messaged and visited. You'll never know how much it has meant to us all.
