Margery I. "Marge" Hoffman

Margery I. "Marge" Hoffman, 84, of Chaffee, NY passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2024 at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on March 12, 1939 in Sardinia, NY and was a daughter of the late Frank A. and Mildred F. (Davis) Gilbert. She enjoyed gardening, baking, ceramics and watching NASCAR. She also enjoyed bird watching, especially cardinals, and above all us - her pride and joy was her family.

Her husband, Donald R. "Butch" Hoffman who she married on September 21, 1957 at St. Jude's Church in Sardinia, passed away on March 17, 2018.

Marge is survived by her children: Bonnie Osborne of Yorkshire, Dale (Patricia) Hoffman of Arcade, Jane (Lincoln) Smith of Freedom, Judy (Scott) Slattery of Maryland and Julie (late Michael) Platt of Chaffee; her siblings: Rich (Sharon) Gilbert of Varysburg, Norm (Patricia) Gilbert of Yorkshire, Alberta (late Bill) Close of Machias, Shirley (Dick) Hunt of Delevan and Elaine (Jim) Pfeffer of Delevan; her brothers and sisters-in-law: Stephie (late Don) Gilbert of Arcade, Grace (late Art) Gilbert of Machias, Helen (late Norm) Forrest of Rochester, Barb (late Dick) Pac of Gainesville and Rose (late Bruce) Hoffman of Buffalo. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Marge is preceded in death by her siblings: Rob (Mary) Gilbert, Carol (Charlie) Weidinger, Betty (Jim) Meyers, Don Gilbert, Beaty (Joe) Becht, Paul (Sue) Gilbert, infant Frank Gilbert, Edie (Cart) Foss and Art Gilbert; her brothers and sisters-in-law: Bern (Barb) Hoffman, Bruce Hoffman, Norm Forrest and Phyllis (Al) Dean.

There will be no calling hours. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family with final interment to be held in Sardinia Cemetery.
