<p>Memorial service for Ronald F. Toncar, 89, of Mentor, will be at 4 PM on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby.</p><p><br></p><p>The family will receive friends from 2-4 PM on Thursday, prior to the service, at the funeral home.</p><p><br></p><p>Mr. Toncar passed away Sunday, February 18, 2024 at Hospice House in Cleveland.</p><p><br></p><p>Born September 2, 1934 in Cleveland, he has lived in Mentor for the past 50 years.</p><p><br></p><p>He was a United States Army Veteran and enjoyed scuba diving, setting up at flea markets, travelling and working on cars, but most especially, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.</p><p><br></p><p>Mr. Toncar was employed as a mechanical engineer at the former Caterpillar plant in Mentor, retiring in 1989 after 30 years of service. </p><p><br></p><p>Survivors are his wife of 61 years, Sandra (Steinhoff); children, Craig (Gwen) Toncar and Kim (Mark) Courey; grandsons, Zachary (Reanna) Courey, Nathan (Erin) Courey, Scott and Sean Toncar and great-granddaughter, Sadie Rae Courey.</p><p><br></p><p>He was preceded in death by his parents, Laddie and Vernet Toncar and his sister, Phyllis Toncar. </p><p><br></p><p><br></p>
