Obituary
William “Don” Dobbins passed away peacefully, at home, surrounded by his
loving family on February 15, 2024. He was deeply cherished as the husband
of Eileen M. Dobbins for a remarkable 64 years. A devoted father, he leaves
behind his daughters, Donna Dobbins and Darlene “Dee” McCready. He was a
loving grandfather to Deanna Daniel and her spouse Jimmy, Danielle
McAllister and her spouse Jesse, and Eric McCready. His legacy extends to his
great-grandchildren, Cameron Botterill and Brooke Daniel, whom he adored.
Born in 1932, Don lived a rich and fulfilling life, marked by academic
achievement and unwavering dedication to service. He proudly earned not
one, but three degrees in engineering, a testament to his sharp intellect and
lifelong commitment to learning. Long before his academic and professional
pursuits he answered the call to duty, in January 1953, where he served with
honor and dedication until December 1954. He would later become an
esteemed engineer for BG&E.
His greatest joys, however, were found in the simple pleasures of life – the
love of his life, and his family. Don was the cornerstone of his family, providing
a strong and dependable foundation that allowed his loved ones to flourish.
He was the epitome of compassion, consistently showing unwavering support
to those around him.
He will be remembered for his intellect, dedication, and, above all, his
enduring love for family and friends.
The Dobbins family warmly invites friends and relatives to gather and share
memories of Don at the E.F. Lassahn Funeral Home, P.A., located at 11750
Belair Road in Kingsville. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 19,
2024, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm and again from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. A service to
celebrate Don's life will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday,
February 20, 2024, at 11:00am. Following the service, Don will be lovingly laid
to rest at Gardens of Faith Cemetery.
