Nada L. Colwell

<p>COLWELL, Nada L, age 62, of Spring Valley, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Hospice of Dayton with family by her side.</p><p><br></p><p>Nada was born April 21, 1961, to Saundra and James Smith in Wilmington, Ohio. She graduated from Xenia High School, class of ’80, and earned an Associate’s Degree from Fortis College in Dayton. She worked several years at Wright Patterson Air Force Base as an office assistant and has been working lately as a cook at Slim’s Restaurant in Spring Valley. Nada was a member of the Spring Valley Global Methodist Church and the Spring Valley Lions Club. She also served on the Spring Valley City Council for more than four years. </p><p><br></p><p>Tenacious, independent, outgoing, and fun, Nada was a natural born leader and often at the center of conversation in the room she was in. She greatly enjoyed hiking and biking, flower gardening, hanging out with her friends, and attending church and church activities. Her favorite hobby was camping with friends and family. It was a tradition for Nada to visit Caesar Creek State Park, Houston Woods, Hocking Hills, and Brookville Lake with her group several times each year. She collected many things, but she was known for collecting antiques, Amish quilts, Betty Boop figurines, and Marilyn Monroe memorabilia. Among many things, she will be remembered for how much she adored her grandchildren.</p><p><br></p><p>She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, in 2003; her mother, Saundra Smith; and one brother, Richard Hanser. She is survived by one son, Timothy “T.J.” (Rachel) Thompson; three grandchildren, Cassie Price, Andrew Price, and Tyler Thompson; her father, Jim Smith; one brother, Lou (Alana) Hanser; four sisters, Lori (Chris) Carroll, Kelley Jo (Dave) Lofthouse, Robin (Sean) DeWine, and Jennifer (Bill) Harphant; aunts Shirley Holden, Barbara (Nolen) Burden, Donna Garrison, and Barbara Carr; best friends, Daniel Doyle, Nancy Mangan, DeDe McCoy, and Diane Rowland; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.</p><p><br></p><p>The family will receive friends 6 - 8 PM Sunday, February 18 at Conner &amp; Koch Funeral Home in Bellbrook. A life celebration service will be held 11 AM Monday, February 19 at Conner &amp; Koch with Pastor Dar Hensley officiating. Burial will be in Spring Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Spring Valley Global Methodist Church or Hospice of Dayton. Condolences at www.connerandkoch.com.</p>
