Rosalind Yvonne Ford Obituary

Rosalind Yvonne Henderson was born on January 25, 1938 in Fulton, Missouri to Harvey Bradford Henderson Sr Roberta Rosalee Henderson.

She attended and graduated from Fulton Public Schools. Rosalind was baptized at an early age at Second Christian Church of Fulton, Missouri and lived her life serving the Lord God.

Rosalind married Dr. Charles Lee McBride Sr. on June 3, 1955 for 25 years. They moved to Poplar Bluff, MO where they had three amazing children Rejeana Sevinne McBride, Charles(Joyce)  Lee McBride Jr. and Carlos Lee McBride Sr. She dearly enjoyed planning family summer vacations abroad while her children were growing up.

Dr. Charles and Rosalind moved their family to Muskegon, Michigan in 1962. That same year, the family joined Greater Harvest Baptist Church where she worshipped for more than 61 years. Rosalind loved her church family. She taught Sunday School and Bible School, sang in the choir, was a missionary and served as President of the Mother’s Board.

Rosalind attended Muskegon Community College and Michigan State University. Early in her career, Rosalind worked at JC Penny, Brunswick Bowling Alley and the department of inspections and zoning at the City of Muskegon Heights. She was actively involved in the NAACP-Muskegon Branch, was regional secretary for the Tri-City Women’s Club, member of the Urban League of Greater Muskegon County and member of the American Business Women’s Association. She often marched and advocated for equal rights of Black people.

She later married Mark Tyrone Ford on April 14, 1981 (for 38 years) and moved to Pasadena, California for six years. While there, she worked for World Vision, coordinating food distribution to children around the world. After returning to Muskegon, she worked for the department of public works at City of Muskegon Heights until she retired.

Throughout her life, she loved traveling with friends, playing bingo, painting, watching cowboys (particularly Gunsmoke), cooking, crocheting, sewing, upholstery, reading and jigsaw puzzles. Most of all she adored spending time with family and special friends Rillastine Wilkins, Richard Simmons and Sandra Hopkins.

On February 14, 2024, Rosalind peacefully joined her heavenly family: Husband Mark Ford; Great Grandchild DeArian McBride, Grandchildren Carlos McBride, Carlisa McBride and Kevin McBride; Son Carlos McBride Sr.; Siblings Edna Pauline Kibby-Walker, Harvey (Lorraine) Bradford Henderson Jr., and Bobbie Dean Kibby-Stewart;

Parents Harvey Henderson & Roberta Thompson Henderson; Grandparents Tanty Thompson & Amanda Lambert Thompson; and Great Grand Parents John Lambert & Roberta Ramsey Lambert.

She leaves a beautiful legacy that will forever be treasured by her three children, 24 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and a host of cousins and other relatives and friends.
