PETERSTOWN, WV – Joan M. Williams Ferguson, 87, went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, surrounded by her family and special friends.

Joan was born on November 30, 1936, in Beckley, WV, to her loving parents, Tracy J. and Gladys Williams.

Joan was a homemaker most of her life, providing love and support to her husband, E.L. and her four children, who she loved with all of her heart.

She was a proud member of the Grand Chapter of West Virginia Order of Eastern Star, Peterstown Chapter No. 118 for over 50 years, being initiated on May 19, 1970.

She was a member of the Peterstown Methodist Church for many years and later attended Peterstown Christian Church.

Joan was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband Edward L. “E.L.” Ferguson; her parents, Tracy and Gladys Williams; and a brother, Tommie Williams.

Left to cherish her memory are her four children, Cynthia “Cindy” DeVaux of Lexington, SC, Elizabeth “Elaine” Akers of Christiansburg, VA, Brian K. Ferguson (Kathy) of Peterstown, WV, and Tracy E. Ferguson (Leslie) of Peterstown, WV.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Shannon Buckland (Lisa) of Kingsland, GA, Rayanna Padgett of Gaston, SC, Daniel Frazier of Narrows, VA, Kristen Frazier of Pulaski, VA, Sierra Lilly (Wayland) of Peterstown, WV, Blaize Ferguson and Kasadee Ferguson, both of Peterstown, WV.

Joan was also blessed with eight great grandchildren, Maddie, Collin, Raegan, Ricky, Brynlee, Braelyn, Olivia, and Jacob.

The family would also like to thank all of the caregivers at Lindside Health Care Center for all they did for Joan during her stay there.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM on Friday, February 16, 2024, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home in Peterstown, WV, with Minister Don Henegar officiating. Burial will follow at the Peterstown Cemetery in Rich Creek, VA. Visitation will be held from 11:00AM until time of services on Friday at the funeral home.
