78 of Glen Haven, passed away on Saturday February 10, 2024, in the QEII Health Sciences Center, Halifax. Born in Halifax she was the daughter of the late Mabel (Covey) and Clement Richardson.


Gloria grew up in Indian Harbour where her love for the fresh, clean salt air was born. She loved spending time with family and friends, road trips to Cape Breton, Bridgewater and La Have. She was an avid reader and loved swimming in the ocean. She was quick witted always ready with a comeback and loved a good joke.


Gloria was widowed at a young age with two small children to care for and got her certification as a PCW and began her career at Fairview Villa. She then worked at St. Vincent's Guest House where she retired from.


Besides her parents Gloria was predeceases by her husband, William Thomas Swaysland; 3 daughters, Mary, Tracey, and Michelle; grandson, Terry; two brothers and one sister.

She is survived by daughter, Heidi (Peter); sisters, June, Janet (Billy), Betty Lou and brother, Denny; many nieces and nephews. Gloria will always be loved and never forgotten.


A graveside service will be held 11 am Friday, February 16th in the William Black Memorial Cemetery, Glen Margaret.
