Judith "Judy" Lehman Hollon Obituary

Judith “Judy” Lehman Hollon of Toms Brook, Virginia, passed away at the age of 77, on February 8, 2024.

Judy was born in Johnstown PA on October 25, 1946, a daughter of the late Robert and Erlamond Lehman, Judy was the fourth of ten children. She graduated as valedictorian of Ferndale High School, then attended Parsons College, where she graduated with honors. After college, Judy moved to Prince George’s County Maryland, where she taught high school biology. During this time, she met the love of her life, Danny Hollon, who had just returned from Vietnam. The two were married in Christ Church, in Alexandria VA, on January 31, 1970. Also in 1970, she followed her passion for nature by becoming George Washington National Forest’s first female park ranger. Always passionate about education, Judy designed the first sensory and adaptive hiking trails, so all children could experience nature. A loving mother, Judy adored her two children, Corinne and Justin. While Danny served 27 years in the Air Force, Judy lovingly raised her children while giving back to the community through her many roles in the Officer’s Wives Clubs and various volunteer organizations. They lived throughout the world, including Thailand, Germany, England, California, Idaho, Virginia, Florida, and Maryland. They finally retired to their beloved farm in Virginia where they raised chickens, dogs, Angus cattle, and horses, and especially enjoyed the mountain views. Judy will be remembered by all for her bright smile, quick wit, and love of nature.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, and she is survived by her husband, Danny Hollon, two children: Corinne Hollon Graves (Todd) and Justin Hollon (Heather), six grandchildren: Patrick, Ciara, and Cailin Graves and Porter, Graham, and Clay Hollon, and nine siblings:  Robert, Karen, Kathy, James, Nancy, Richard, John, Jerry, and Donald.

A celebration of life for Judy will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Stover Funeral home.  Judy will be laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions to your local food bank or to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank.
