<p>Sid Owen, 81, passed away Thursday, February 8, 2024, surrounded by loved ones at his residence in Sallis.</p><p><br></p><p>Funeral services are 3:00 pm Sunday, February 11, 2024 at Sallis Baptist Church. The visitation will be 1:30 pm until 3:00 pm at the church. Burial will follow in the Sallis Cemetery.</p><p><br></p><p>Sid is survived by his wife Debra Schilling Owen, her children Scottie Frazier (Carol) and Heather Williams (Floyd), grandchildren Carly and Coleman, and a special sister-in-law Jane Miller, his children Mary Gladys Goolsby (Mike), estranged daughter Sheryl Hand (Jim), and Angela Rosenbaum (Lee), grandchildren Michelle Goolsby, Megan Hodges (Michael), Mary Anne Huhn (Zach), Jim Hand, John Hand, Logan Rosenbaum, and Olivia Rosenbaum, and great-grandchild Addie Jane Huhn. </p><p><br></p><p>Sid started his career in Columbus with the Farmer’s Home Administration which was later reorganized as the Farm Service Agency. He later moved to Indianola where he was a County Supervisor for the Association in the Drew office. After many years Sid went into the State office where he became a Specialist and was well respected for his work over the bankruptcy department. He retired with more than 30 years of service in the agency. He had also served on the Attala County Co-Op Board and the Attala County Cattlemen Association Board. He was a member of Sallis Baptist Church.</p><p><br></p><p>He was preceded in death by his parents Sidney Owen and Irene Hutchinson Owen.</p><p><br></p><p>The family would like to give a special thanks to Sid’s caretaker Gillis Harmon.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p>
