Joyce Ann Hemby Dowty was born May 29, 1945 at Pocola, Oklahoma to Ed Hemby and Lucy McKinney Hemby. She was the youngest of seven children. Joyce grew up at Pocola and spent the first half of her life in the Pocola and Spiro area before moving to Stilwell. She dedicated her life to God in October 1986 at Christian Grove Free Will Baptist Church in Pocola OK, just 1/2 mile from the little house where she was born. Joyce was married to Tom Dowty on February 15, 1980. Joyce and Tom moved to the Ketcher homeplace in Peavine in 1992 and resided there until she went to live with Jesus on February 7, 2024.

Joyce was very active in the Stilwell Pentecostal Holiness (Impact Church) which she started attending in 1992 and considered the church family to be one of her greatest blessings. Her most precious possessions were her husband, Tom, and her children and grandchildren.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Charles Ed, Leroy, Willis, and Wesley Hemby

and grandchild Catrina Jo Dowty and her mother-in-law Pauline Dowty.

She is survived by husband Tom Dowty of the home, daughters Tammy Vigil of Ashland, KS, Sharon and Terry Vise of Spiro, OK, Ruth Fourkiller, Tonia and Michael Mounce all of Stilwell; sons Todd and Angelia Dowty of Rocky Mountain, OK, Donovan and Audra Dowty of Buckner, MO; special sister Jennie Weathers, special brother Darrell Dowty; grandchildren Chance and Clay Vigil, Shianne Vise, Joshua, Rance and Joah Fourkiller, Tiffani, Nichole and Melissa Dowty, Moriah and Mason Dowty and Ella Grace Mounce; 13 great grandchildren, special nephew Aaron Weathers, special extended family Jess and Melody Brown, Josh and Cody Brown. Joyce is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
