Mary A. Leggieri Obituary

     Mary Ann (Toth) Leggieri passed away peacefully on February 3rd, 2024, at Somerford Place in Frederick, MD.

     She was born on Sept 9, 1929, in Nicholson, PA to Albert and Anna Toth.

     She attended Nicholson High School where she played on the Basketball team, was Editor of the high school yearbook, and was a member of the National Honor Society and Home Economics Organization. She also served as Class Secretary, Class Treasurer and FHA President.

     Mary met her future husband Tony Leggieri at a hometown dance, and they were married six weeks later on Oct 18, 1947. Mary and Tony were blessed with six sons and one daughter.  They were married for 68 years until Tony passed away in 2016.   

     She sold Dutchmaid clothing for many years to help support her family.  She was a member of St Paul’s Catholic Church in Damascus MD where she volunteered at the soup kitchen to support the needy.  She loved the Lord and LOVED taking care of her husband and family. She was a faithful servant.  She enjoyed gardening, flowers and bird watching. Her summers were spent canning fresh vegetables from her garden. Mary was the most amazing cook, preparing all meals and desserts from scratch.   

     Affectionately known as Bum Bum to all who loved her, Mary is survived by her children Lawrence Leggieri (Susan), Thomas Leggieri (Kitty), Robert Leggieri (Kim), Nancy, Gary and Daughter in-law Sue Leggieri. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

     In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her beloved sons Anthony Jr. and James, and by three brothers and five sisters.

      Visiting hours will be on Monday, February 12th at Molesworth Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus MD from 6-8 pm.

A mass of Chistian burial will be held at 11 am on Tuesday February 13th at St Paul’s Catholic Church, 9250E Damascus Road, Damascus MD, followed by interment at Laytonsville Methodist Cemetery, 71720 Laytonsville Road, Laytonsville MD 20882 and a lunch reception at St Paul’s.  

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St Jude’s Childrens Hospital, St Paul’s Catholic Church, Damascus, MD or ZERO Prostate Cancer 515 King Street, Suite 420, Alexandria VA 22314.
