Myrtle Beattie Obituary

With saddened hearts the family would like to announce the passing of Myrtle Beattie at

the Jubilee Lodge, Kinistino, Sask., on Friday, February 2, 2024 at the ripe old age of one hundred and four

She was born in Kinistino, July 20, 1919 to parents Helmer (Alvilde) Stenstrom. She spent her youth on the family farm northeast of Kinistino with her father, mother, brothers, Rangvald (Ron) and Sigfred and sister Mary.

In 1940 she was united in marriage to local farmer Francis Beattie and spent many great years helping to build a new family home. In the mid 1950’s when husband Francis developed health problems, she spent countless hours helping with farm work, spring and fall, which included driving a tractor and hauling grain during harvest. She always had large vegetable and flower gardens and through all this she still had time to look after her grandchildren, Lana and Sean while their parents worked.

Mom was well known for her great sense of humor and loved to joke. Dad and mom were fortunate to have a large number of friends with whom they took great pleasure in visiting often. Mom was a member of the Nordin Hospital Auxiliary and then the Kinistino Hospital Auxiliary. She was also instrumental in the founding of the Kinistino Half Century Club and was a member of the Jubilee Lodge Auxiliary. She was always ready to lend a helping hand to family, friends or community. In the winter months she especially enjoyed curling which gave her quality time with many old and new friends.

Myrtle was predeceased by her husband, Francis Beattie, her father and mother, Helmer and Alvilde Stenstrom , her daughters Patricia Paquette and Donna Wick, son in law Andrew Paquette and grandson Douglas Paquette. She is survived by her son Jerry (Gloria) Beattie, sister Mary Uhryn, son in law Darwin Wick and her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mom especially appreciated the special care and attention she received from all the staff during her four year stay at Jubilee Lodge, all of whom became part of her family. Her saddest moments were remembering the loss of her lifelong friends and family members.

A private interment will take place at a future date.

Contributions in memory of Myrtle Beattie maybe made to the Kinistino Jubilee Lodge Health care Auxiliary.
