William "Bill" A. Landry Obituary

William "Bill" A. Landry, 78, passed away Friday, February 2, 2024 in Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. He was the husband of Donna (George) Landry. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late William A. and Donelda (Morse) Landry Sr.

In addition to his wife, Donna, Bill leaves behind his daughters: Kimberly Wayland and Gayle George; his son-in-law, Troy Wayland; his grandchildren Spencer and Wyatt and his nephew, Dennis Sherman. He was predeceased by his sister, Eileen.

Bill worked for Allstate Gas, The Providence Gravura Inc. and Spieldel over many years. He is as special as he is loved as the following testament will show: During July 1973, with his lovely wife of 2 years...Donna... my sister and beautiful daughter, Kim,11 months old, experienced a family tragedy. His wife's mother passed away. He then, without hesitation, took on the full responsibility of taking in his youngest sister-in-law, at the age of 3...which was me, Gayle. I believe that without Bill, I would not be the person I am today. He worked hard to support us while finding time to coach our softball teams, teaching us how to fish and how to be responsible. He made the best home fries on Sundays. He loved welcoming a son-in-law, Troy, into the family, which made his daughter so happy. He cared about Kim's and Gayle's friends that were brought into his life. He loved and supported every single one of his sisters-in-law and brothers-in law, their children and grandchildren. Donna always said he loved the idea that when he got involved with her he was gaining a huge family! He didn't have that growing up and he loved the whole lot of us "crazies". Each one of us was a part of his heart...and if you're reading this then you know who you are...you know how he was always there. His favorite times were the days when we all got together and had a crazy summer cookout or a loud Christmas Eve. He enjoyed watching new family members be welcomed into the family and hearing stories that we shared with him of everyone's accomplishments. He loved watching sports and talking to anyone about that game from last night. He loved his newspaper and seeing someone's name in it that he knew would make him beam and tell anyone in ear shot.

Wendy, Lynn, Joyce, Jesse and Walt; the Joly's with the Fourth of July cookouts or late night fishing on Wilson's Pond, the Peplers, the Allens, Beckwiths, Georges, Plantes, Trimbles, Wertzs, Shermans and Gabrielsons and all of the kids and families that have come from these names....if you are reading this, you know you held a place in his heart. But what Bill enjoyed the most was his two grandchildren, Spencer and Wyatt. He loved watching them when they were little; building legos and puzzles, playing card games, watching them run around... then as they grew; driving Spencer to her first job at Spring Lake, where he worked as a teen and telling her all about his "back in my day" stories, going to Wyatt's basketball games and cheering him on, seeing their accomplishments from grades to sports and clubs and knowing they would become amazing in life. There are so many that held a unique place in his heart that I could write a book....

Keep remembering the memories and stories. Share them with us and with each other. That is how we keep him with us always and forever.

Bill's funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Boucher Funeral Home, 272 Sayles Ave., Pascoag. However, Bill, with his quiet, tall nature, did not want a service, so instead, we will have a gathering...a cookout, at a later date, where we can all gather and drink a Bud, play some horseshoes and poker and share his love of us all. "Go Red Sox...get rid of the bums!"
