Georgetown: Janie Burgess Johnson, 96, widow of Abbie Valdolph Johnson, died Friday, April 20, 2018, at Embrace Hospice House in Myrtle Beach. Mrs. Johnson was born in Kingstree on February 6, 1922, a daughter of the late William Eugene Burgess and Allie Mae Epps Burgess. She grew up in Williamsburg Co. and graduated from High School there. Mrs. Johnson moved to Georgetown after her marriage. She was a member of Georgetown Presbyterian Church and the church’s Inez Strait Circle Group and Lela Ford Sunday School Class. Mrs. Johnson was also a member of the Busy Bees Quilting Club. Surviving are: a son, William Valdolph Johnson (Marleen) of Georgetown; two daughters, Brenda Johnson Jeffcoat of Augusta, GA and Jan Blakely (Raymond) of Georgetown; a sister, Virge Harrington of Georgetown; four grandchildren; Jennifer Heinemann, Allison Waites; and David and Patrick Blakely; and seven great-grandchildren. Services will be three o’clock Sunday afternoon, April 22, 2018, at the graveside in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be the Rev. Rhett Talbert and the Rev. Dr. Bill Puckett.
