Silverthorne, Anne Margaret (nee McLean)

It is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of Anne Margaret Silverthorne (nee McLean). Anne passed away peacefully at the Grandview Lodge, with her loving family by her side, on Friday, February 2, 2024, in her 94th year. Beloved wife of the late Fredrick Silverthorne (2014). Cherished mother of Dan (Carole) Silverthorne, †David Silverthorne, and Brenda Silverthorne (Mark Becker). Loving grandmother of Matthew Silverthorne, Brittany (Tobin) Horton, and Caitlyn Silverthorne (Bob Montgomery). Proud great-grandmother of Brooks Horton and Mya Montgomery. Anne is survived by her sister, Mary Livingston, and predeceased by her siblings, Theresa, Toni, Roland, Douglas, Angus and Jackie, and her parents, John and Christina McLean. She was loved by her extended family and many nieces and nephews.

Born in Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia, Anne moved to Dunnville, Ontario in 1945 with her dear sister, Mary. She worked at the Monarch in her early years in Dunnville, later moving into bookkeeping for various Dunnville businesses, including Silverthorne Car Sales and Silverthorne Refractories. She married the love of her life, Fred, in 1950 and together they grew a loving family. She could always be found in the kitchen, often baking her famous pies and treats for her grandchildren, who she adored. Anne enjoyed spending time in her blooming gardens and always had a pot of tea on for an afternoon visit. She will be greatly missed, but always remembered, by her family.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks and deep gratitude to the staff at Creekview, in the Grandview Lodge, for their incredible care and compassion over the past five years.

A Mass service for Anne will be held on Friday, February 9th at 11.00AM at the St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 123 King Street, Port Colborne. The mass will be livestreamed for those who are unable to attend in person and can be viewed by clicking the link on the funeral home website. An Interment and Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to BALLARD MINOR FUNERAL HOME, Dunnville (905-774-7277). In memory of Anne, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Brant, Haldimand Norfolk and Hamilton Halton would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
