Kathryn Mary Shackford, 77, of Wells, passed away February 2, 2024. She was born March 8, 1946 in Rochester, NH to George and Antonia (Gourdourus) Hill.

Kathryn was raised in Dover and was part of the first graduating class from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in 1964. She married Dennis R. Shackford on September 25, 1964 and soon after moved to Wells. She stayed home to raise their son, Dennis, and after he graduated high school she went to work at Forbes Hotel where she was a Front Desk Clerk.

Kathryn was kind, caring, and smart. She was outspoken when she needed to be. She was a great mother and a fantastic grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed spending time in her flower gardens, cooking, and with family. She was an active member of the Elks in Wells.

Kathryn was preceded in death by: her parents, George and Antonia Hill; husband, Dennis R. Shackford; sister, Donna D’Antilio; and brother, George Hill Jr. She is survived by: her son, Dennis J. Shackford and his wife, Pamela of Springvale; grandson, Ryan J. Shackford of Wells; granddaughter, Sarah A. Shackford of Springvale; great-grandson, Gage J. Shackford of Springvale; nieces, Jessica Starkey and her husband Josh of Windham, ME and Jennifer Wade of Franklin, NH; and numerous cousins and friends.

A celebration of Kathryn’s life and a gathering of family and friends will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at the Wells Elks Lodge (356 Bald Hill Rd.)
