Irene S. Nagel (nee Dotty)

Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother

Age 92 yrs. Passed away peacefully on February 2, 2024. Preceded in death by husband George, daughter Joanne, granddaughter Ashley and daughter-in-law Nancy (Mehlhorn); Italian immigrant parents Anthony Dotty and Sylvia (Gianatti); siblings Tony, Anne (Colucci), Esther (Wanner), Marion (Winkel) and Lorraine (Pinky Inserra); mother of Mary Jo Beaurline (Joe), Joseph (Nancy), Judy Tacheny (Doug) and Jim (Gisela); grandchildren: Bridget, Brett, Michael, Melissa, Eric, Megan, Kelsey, Matias and Lucienne; great-grandchildren: Jacob, Georgia, Eleanor, Addison, Isaac, Nola, Maeva, Roman, Grant, Charlotte, Aiden, Mason, Katie, Tyler, Brook and Nico; also many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Irene was known for having dedicated her life to caring for her family. Some of the wonderful treats she always had on hand were apple slices, thumbprint cookies and of course her world-famous zucchini bread! Her Italian heritage was evident in her signature spaghetti sauce with meatballs, and her homemade apple butter made the best peanut butter and jelly sandwiches! Besides the regular stock of garden vegetables that George tended in the backyard garden, Irene always had an ample supply of bananas at hand, one for every day!

Irene’s example of selfless, giving love was clear to all who met her and saw how she cared for her children, and especially how she sacrificed many things in order to care for Joanne, her special needs, youngest daughter, who remained in her care for most of her life! And even when Irene could not be as active in her later years, she would always let us know that she was praying for us all!
