Wanda S. Harmon

BALLARD, WV – Wanda S. Harmon, age 92, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at the Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA. Born March 17, 1931, in Domino, KY, she was the daughter of the late Howard Lee and Ida Mae Fletcher Shook.

Wanda was a former member of the Mt. Jackson Regular Baptist Church in Athens, WV, where her late husband, Rev. Eugene Harmon, was pastor for 34 years. More recently, she was a member at the Ballard Baptist Church in Ballard, WV. She enjoyed crocheting and her hummingbird feeders. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Eugene O. Harmon; one granddaughter, Valerie Joy; one daughter-in-law, Susan Harmon; one brother, Francis Shelby “Sonny” Shook; and two sisters, Mary Blanche Brown and Ruth Lane.

Survivors include three sons, Wayne Harmon of Greenville, SC, Gene Allen Harmon and wife Sarajean of Taylors, SC, and Steven Harmon and wife Hazel of Roanoke, VA; ten grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00PM on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV, with Pastor Dave Spencer officiating. Burial will follow at the Orchard Cemetery in Ballard, WV. Visitation will be held from 11:00AM until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home.
