Antonina “Anne” Trotta passed away peacefully in the early morning of February 2nd.
She was born in Carini, Sicily on February 7, 1937. The daughter of Guiseppe and Anna (Buffa) Ruffino.
At the age of fourteen, the family immigrated to the United States and settled in Brooklyn. Being the eldest of eight, she helped care for her younger siblings. At 17 she worked as a dressmaker in the garment district. And there is where she would meet the love of her life, Al. From the moment he laid eyes on her, he fell in love. He worked right across from her station. She was so shy that she would walk around the entire floor to avoid his flirtatious nature. But he won her over with his charm and they married in April 1955.
In the Spring of 1964, they moved from the Bronx up to Harrison, where they raised their daughters. They built long lasting friendships over the years and are well known and loved in the Harrison community. Anne was also a parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Church in Harrison, NY.
In addition to her husband, Anne is survived by her two daughters: Debra Mathias and Lisa LoDolce and her husband, Michael. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Megan Vizzari, and her husband, Robert, Brandon Mathias and his wife Tiffany, Gianna Anderson and her husband, Daniel, Christian LoDolce and Nicholas LoDolce. And her great grandchildren: Mila Vizzari, Madison Vizzari, and the most recent addition to the family, Cameron Anderson.
She is predeceased by her parents Guiseppe and Anna, her three sisters Rosaria “Sue” Apap, Josephine Marchiano, and Marie Mannino, her two brothers, Philip Ruffino, and John Ruffino. Anne is also survived by her siblings: Sal Ruffino, Anna Randazzo and her husband, Lino, and Linda Ruffino, in addition to all her beloved nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the Trotta family requests memorial contributions to be made to the Alzheimers Association.
