Kathy Marie Hansson

Kathy Marie Hansson, 75, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at Floyd Valley Healthcare in Le Mars. A Celebration of Life Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars, Iowa. Pastor Luke Cargin will officiate. Burial will follow at a later date at the Moorland Cemetery in Moorland, Michigan. Visitation with the family present will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

Kathy Marie Hansson was born on September 20, 1948, in Muskegon, Michigan to Joseph and Lorraine (Hogan) Taylor. She graduated from high school in Ravenna, Michigan in 1966. She then moved to Texas where she married Ermilo Sandoval Duque. Ermilo passed away in 1970. Kathy then returned to Michigan where she gave birth to their son, Ermilo Sandoval Duque. In 1979, Kathy moved to Sioux City, Iowa where she worked at Bush Dry Cleaners in the Morningside area for many years. She married Robert Gunsolly in 1990. In 1999, Kathy moved to Le Mars where she worked as a Line Manager at Well’s Blue Bunny. Kathy married Hugo Hansson on September 20, 2003, in Le Mars. Kathy retired from Well’s on January 1, 2021.

Kathy was very proud of the over 26 years she worked in the dry-cleaning industry. She was recognized in the Sioux City Journal as one of the premier dry cleaners in Siouxland. Kathy loved animals, especially her cat, Ally. She also enjoyed feeding the squirrels, she loved plants, especially sunflowers, and was passionate about helping and caring for others.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Hugo Hansson of Le Mars, IA. her son, Ermilo Sandoval (Donna) Duque of Le Mars, IA; her stepsons, Tim Hansson of Akron, IA, Trevor (Amy) Hansson of Akron, Tatum Gunsolly of Marion, IA and Tramain (Tina) Gunsolly of Omaha, NE; her siblings, Roger (Shari) Taylor, Brian (Manya) Taylor, Tom (Deb) Taylor and Rick (Dawn) Taylor all of Ravenna, MI; grandchildren, Jadon, Kaitlyn, Ben, Will, Karsten, Grayson, Cody, Dylan and Cole; her in-laws; Alfred, Eddy, Jovina, Carlo, Peter, and Susan Hansson.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Bobby, Larry, and Joe Taylor; brothers-in-law, John and Johannes Hansson; sister-in-law, Jovina Altiery; and daughter in-law, Jamie Duque.

Kathy will be remembered and very missed by all her knew her. She never met a stranger. She was always there with a smile and a hug and helped everyone around her.
