Donald D. Erdman, 79, of Geneseo, passed away Friday, August 1, 2014 at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Long Term Care Unit in Geneseo, IL.A funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, rural Geneseo.Rev. Chris Bushre will officiate.Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo.Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm on Monday at Vandemore Funeral Home, Geneseo.Memorials may be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church or charity of donor’s choice. Don was born on April 12, 1935 in Geneseo, IL, the son of William and Lillie (Oelke) Erdman.He was united in marriage to Elaine J. Werkheiser on December 9, 1956 in Kewanee, IL.She preceded him in death in 2008.Don drove a gas truck for Co-op Gas for many years in Geneseo.Don worked as a plastering contractor for several years. Don was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in rural Geneseo.Don enjoyed driving his red convertible, Geneseo athletics, and following and watching the markets. He is survived by his son Ken (Alicia) Erdman, Peoria; his daughter Nancy (John) Wickwire, Geneseo; grandchildren: Kyle (Dr. Ashton) Wickwire, Amy (Jason) Rittenhouse, Jill Wickwire, Kendra, Andrew and Janelle Erdman; great grandchildren: Justin Rittenhouse, Lane Rittenhouse; sisters: Betty Talbot, Violet (Don) Fleming, Darla (Gary) Johns, all of Geneseo. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Elaine, and his brother Wayne.
