EPSOM- Mrs. Shirley A. (Dignard) Richard, 80, of Epsom, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family in the care of the Granite VNA Hospice House on January 28, 2024.

Born in Amesbury, MA, Shirley was the daughter of the late Ernest J. Dignard, Sr. and Priscilla G. (LaValley) Dignard.  She was raised and educated in Amesbury. 

Shirley was a beloved mother, devoted wife, and a member of the New Rye Congregational Church in Epsom. She was a cherished member of the church. She lived a life filled with love, kindness, and devotion 

Her passion for attending her bible studies reflected her deep spiritual connection and the values she held dear throughout her life.  Shirley was considered a "Saint" for raising four boys with all of her heart, and leaving an indelible mark on their lives. She was a very kind and loving woman. She enjoyed cooking, creating ceramics with her sister Louise, quilting, and gardening. She was a sports fan including golf and an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. She enjoyed watching the games with her sons.

She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph B. Richard, Sr. and her stepsister, Kathy Cormier.

Shirley is survived by her four sons: Joseph Richard, Jr. and his wife Debbie of Allenstown, Steven Richard of Westhampton Beach, NY, Michael Richard of Upland, CA and Brian Richard of Dover.  She was the sister to Louise Richardson of Deerfield and stepsister to Ernest Dignard, Jr.  She is also survived by her grandchildren: Travis and his wife Danielle, Kodah, Xylina, as well as her great grandchildren, Wyatt and Landon. 

She leaves extended family: Hayden Beckman, Katherine DeJesus, Rainniel Laxa, and Michelle Glines.

There will be no calling hours.  A Funeral Service will be held for family and close friends only on Tuesday, February 6th at 11 A.M. in the New Rye Congregational Church, 289 New Rye Rd. in Epsom.  Burial will take place privately with the family.  Assisting the family with arrangements is The Roan Family Funeral Home - Still Oaks Chapel of Epsom.  To share a memory or offer a condolence, please visit www.roanfamilyfuneral.com
