Phyllis Ann Jordan Obituary

In Loving Memory of Phyllis "Deedee" Ann Jordan: A Life Filled with Love, Kindness, a Dash of Humor, and a Strong Christian Faith

Phyllis "Deedee" Ann Jordan, 82, a woman whose heart overflowed with love, kindness, and a contagious sense of humor, left us on January 26, 2024, to continue spreading laughter in the presence of her Heavenly Father. Born on November 2, 1941, in New London, CT, to devout Christian parents Robert and Avis Jordan, Phyllis lived a life dedicated to her faith and bringing joy to those around her.

Phyllis graduated from Brewer High School in 1960 and went on to attend Eastern Maine Hospital's Nursing Program, where she earned her RN diploma.

Phyllis excelled in her career and eventually became an OR supervisor at EMH. She later pursued further education at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, where she studied and also served as a campus nurse. Upon returning to Bangor, Phyllis became the Director of Nursing at James Taylor Osteopathic Hospital. When the hospital closed, she transitioned to St. Joseph's Hospital, where she served as the Assistant Director of Nursing and eventually retired as the Night Supervisor.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Phyllis had a passion for helping others. She embarked on three medical missions trips to Haiti, Honduras, and Senegal, dedicating her time and skills to serve those in need.

While Phyllis's sense of humor brought laughter to countless lives, it was her unwavering faith that truly touched hearts. She saw humor as a gift from God, a way to bring joy and light into a world that could often feel heavy. Her ability to find humor in the midst of life's challenges served as a testament to her trust in God's plan and her belief that laughter could heal and uplift the spirit. A woman with strong convictions and a heart of gold, Phyllis would want us to find solace in the knowledge that she is now in the loving embrace of her Savior.

Phyllis is survived by her brother Robert Jordan and his wife Edie, her sister Mimi King and her husband David, her adored nieces Andrea Jordan and Jacqueline Stancliff, her nephews Andrew, Adam, and Michael King, and Paul Jordan, as well as several great nieces and nephews. Phyllis was predeceased by her parents, sister in law, nephew, and delinquent and beloved schipperke, Kola.

A gathering to remember and celebrate Phyllis's life will take place on Friday, February 2, at 2:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church, 61 State Street, Brewer, with a service to follow at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, Phyllis's family kindly requests contributions to the Calvary Baptist Church Mission Fund, c/o CBC, 61 State St., Brewer, ME 04412.
