Mary Ellen Fulton, 85, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Floyd Valley Healthcare in Le Mars. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 2, 2024, at All Saints Catholic Parish – St. Joseph Church in Le Mars. Father Doug Klein will celebrate Mass. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at St. Joseph Church. The family will be present from 5-7 p.m. with a Rosary at 5:30 p.m. and a Scriptural Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to Mass on Friday.

Mary Ellen Sherlock was born on January 6, 1939, on the family farm, near Oyens, IA, the daughter of Julius and Anna (Nilles) Sherlock. She attended school at Remsen St. Mary’s High School, where she graduated in 1956.

Mary was united in marriage to Robert Fulton on November 5, 1960, at Saint Catherine’s Catholic Church in Oyens, Iowa, and they began their married life in Le Mars. They were blessed with a son Jeff and a daughter Jill. Over the years Mary worked at Aalfs Manufacturing in Le Mars, K-Products in Orange City, and as a salesclerk at Hardware Hank in Le Mars.

She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars. She was very active playing in several card clubs, spending time with her family, and regularly attending sisters’ day with her sisters each month.

Mary will be lovingly remembered by her son, Jeff of Remsen, IA; daughter, Jill (Toby) Lorenzen of Rock Rapids, IA; grandchildren, Jessie (Scott Hofer) Lorenzen, Jaimee Lorenzen and Travis (Emily) Fulton; one great-granddaughter, Elaina Fulton; one great-grandson, Brayden Hofer; sisters, Helen Rolling, Loretta Hoss, Julie Sauer-McEllany, Esther (Tom)Shrader and Norrie (Keith) Harvey; brother, Cy (Phyllis) Sherlock; sisters-in-law, Zelda Sherlock, Claudette Sherlock, Janice (John) Howd and Jean (Greg) Arnovech; brother-in-law, Don Fulton; as well as many nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her parents, Julius and Anna Sherlock; her husband, Robert Fulton; brothers, Alfred Sherlock, Jerry Sherlock, Ray Sherlock, Pat Sherlock, LeRoy Sherlock; sisters, Rosie Kurth and Doris Rolfes, sisters-in-law, Judy Sherlock, Jan Sherlock, JoAnn Verts; brothers-in-law; Mark Rolling, Paul Kurth, Ken Rolfes, Jim McEllany and Chuck Verts.
