Gerald Albert Laskowski

Bay City, Michigan

Our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Gerald Albert Laskowski, passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on January 23, 2024, in Bay City, in the same bedroom at home where he was born on November 19, 1931 to the late Albert and Florence (Delestowicz) Laskowski. Gerald was a 1949 graduate of St. Joseph Catholic High School where he excelled in the church choir. Gerald then proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force, serving as a World War II Occupation Troop in Germany, Italy and France during the Korean War. On September 10, 1955, Gerald married the love of his life, Joyce J. Lambert; she preceded him in death April 15, 2003. He and Joy started their own family with four children; Mark, Danielle, Kirk, and Charmane. He served as a dedicated UAW Shop Committeeman representing 4000+ employees at the General Motors Bay City Chevrolet plant for over 30 years before retiring. During his time at General Motors, and also after retiring, Gerald spent many years with his own painting company servicing residential and commercial spaces up until the age of 85. He was the most dedicated husband, father, and provider during his entire life.

Gerald was one of a kind. He was a faithful servant of the Lord Jesus and truly devoted to helping anybody he knew and did not know. He painted several churches for free as part of his service to his God and church congregations. Through the years, his favorite pastimes were perch fishing on the Saginaw Bay, playing cards, league bowling (winning numerous trophies), listening to big band music, and ballroom dancing, especially with his best friend and wife, Joy.

But most of all, his greatest joys were incessantly and unselfishly serving his family and friends, even spending his last 15-20 years dedicated to help raise three of his great grandchildren, and to mentor several younger men into responsible adulthood, rather than "retiring" to pursue his own desires.

Left to cherish his memory are his four children, Mark (Wendy) Laskowski of Fenton, MI, Danielle Laskowski of Bay City, MI, Kirk (Roxanne) of Fenville, MI, and Charmane (Phillip) Deol of Laguna Niguel, CA; grandchildren: Brent (Breanna) Laskowski, Garrett (Kimberlee) Laskowski, Sharisse Laskowski, Jazmin Laskowski, Andre Laskowski, Isaiah Laskowski, Jared Laskowski, Nathan Laskowski, Levi Laskowski, Isabella Laskowski, Natalia Laskowski, Julianna Laskowski, Alexia Laskowski, Michael (Rachel) Deol, Matthew (Nichole) Deol, Dr. Chloé Deol, Camille Deol; and nine great-grandchildren. Gerald is happily reunited in heaven with his wife, Joyce J. Laskowski; and parents Albert and Florence Laskowski.

The Funeral Service will take place at 5:00 PM on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Ambrose Funeral Home, 1200 Garfield Ave. Bay City, MI 48708. Hank Messing will officiate. Visitation will take place at the funeral home from 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM. Military Honors will be held at the funeral home.
