HENDERSON, James Garfield (Gary)

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce that Gary was placed into the loving arms of our Lord on January 27th, 2024 in his 81st year, due to COPD.

Dearly beloved husband of Ann Henderson. Cherished father of Tina Gould (Fran Viola) and Jon (Sarah) Henderson. Precious grandpa to Garrett (Mitch) and Austin Gould, Jessica, Chris and Jordan Henderson and step-grandpa to Marianna & Jacob. Loving brother of Patricia (Rick) Larocque and brother-in-law of Liz Whalen. Dear uncle to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, James and Lucy Henderson, brother-in-law Jamie Whalen and sister-in-law, Nellie Kornaga.

Gary retired from Stelco after many years of service in the blast furnace, where he formed wonderful lifelong friendships. His sense of humour endeared him to many, as he loved to tease and give advice to anyone who listened.

We wish to thank Emmanuel House Hospice for the wonderful care and compassion given to him.

In keeping with Gary’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Gary’s life will be held at P.X. Dermody Funeral Home, 1919 King St. E. (between Cochrane & Rosedale), on Sunday, February 4, 2024 from 2-4 p.m.
