Ronald Harold Noll Obituary

LATHAM – Ronald H. Noll passed away peacefully on Friday, January 26, 2024 at the age of 90 following a brief illness.

Ronald was born on January 17, 1934 in Albany, NY and was the son of the late Frederick W. and Gertrude (Hacker) Noll. He grew up in Albany, on Elk Street, with his brothers and sisters, Frederick (Billy), Jack, Richard, Faith and Sandra. Ronald was a member of the Class of 1952 of Albany High School and soon after graduating enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served during the Korean War both stateside and in Korea and for his service was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1956 and returned home to Albany. On May 24, 1958 Ronald was wed to Beverly Baxter and together they enjoyed more than 61 years marriage before her passing on September 24, 2019.

Ronald enjoyed a long and distinguished career as a bank executive. His initial employment was with the former State Bank of Albany for whom he developed and opened numerous branch locations throughout the Capital District. He was a resident of Clifton Park for a number of years and moved to Queensbury in 1978 to open and operate one last bank branch office. In 1985 he returned to the Albany area and was instrumental in renovating the former Union Station on Broadway in downtown Albany for then Fleet/Norstar Bank. The project was one of his proudest accomplishments. Ronald retired from banking in 1994 and enjoyed a very active and healthy retirement.

Ronald was a founding member of the Christ Community Dutch Reformed Church in Clifton Park, NY where he served in various positions and enjoyed many happy years as a part of the congregation. He had a life-long involvement with Freemasonry and was a member and past master of Wadsworth Lodge # 417 F&AM in Albany. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite and the Shriners and was most proud of having achieved the 33rd degree in Freemasonry; an honorary degree that is awarded to members who have exemplified exceptional dedication and service within the organization. As a Shriner, he found great joy in driving children with disabilities to the Shriner’s Hospital in Springfield, Mass.

Ronald will be remembered for his devotion to his family, for his talent and skills in wood carving and as a wonderful cook.

He is survived by his son, David A. (Carrie) Noll of Cohoes; his daughter, Joanne E. Hughes of Latham; his grandchildren, Casey E. Noll and Cameron A.D. Kildoyle; his sister, Sandra Lorette; his cousin through marriage, Joanne Goodwin and several nieces and nephews.
